A community vision since 2004.
The vision for San Pablo Youth Mentoring Program (SPYMP) began in 2004, inspired by Marina Ramos and her work with the Rodeo Youth Mentoring Program. Danilo Garcia Jr. shared that vision with his parents, Milagro and Danilo Garcia, who helped bring the program to life.
In November 2006, the Garcia family opened two classrooms at MacArthur Community Baptist Church in San Pablo. What began with a small group of mentors and students grew from a simple belief: every young person deserves encouragement and support.
The year SPYMP welcomed students to its first mentoring sessions in San Pablo.
Our mission
To help students improve academic achievement and pursue higher education, while building self-confidence, independence, leadership, a sense of accomplishment, and a positive attitude toward school. SPYMP also seeks to support mentors and empower parents.
